About

My name is Tom Andreas Mannerud and I am an Information Technology professional and educator from Oslo, Norway. I am currently an Associate and Information Technology Manager with HOK (Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum, Inc.), the worlds leading architecture and engineering firm.

I am also the President of TriTom Technology Group - providing innovative technology solutions for today’s small businesses and large enterprises.

Before working for HOK, I managed technology for Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL), a fortune 500 company and the worlds largest cruise line with more than 21,000 employees and 22 ships. As a Senior Information Systems Manager onboard the passenger superliners Carnival Fascination, Carnival Sensation, Carnival Inspiration, Carnival Miracle, Carnival Spirit, and Carnival Conquest, I was an officer responsible for all Information Technology and Communications onboard.

Over the years I have tutored & taught workshops and classes at corporate training centers, high-schools, and colleges and am currently an adjunct instructor at the International Academy of Design & Technology, where I have taught classes such as Web Site Operations & Security and Markup Languages.

I currently hold a degree in Management Information Systems from the College of Business Administration at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, and a Diploma in Network Administration from the professional network adminstration program at Treider College in Oslo, Norway. I also maintain numerous industry certifications ranging from the rare Certified Internet Business Strategist to Certified Internet Webmaster to Certified Novell Engineer to name a few.

Teaching

My teaching philosophy has, and continues, to follow a constructivist philosophy. I believe students learn by social constructivism whereby through exploring, creating and sharing with eachother that students retain the most knowledge and reach their potential. Moreover, it is my belief that it is of higher importance to teach students where to acquire knowledge about a topic in order to reach a conclusion or solve a problem rather than enforcing memorization.
